I would like to visit the Wuhan Energy Flower
in China, designed by Grontmij and Soeters Van Eldonk
Architects. The building is currently still under
construction but it will become the world’s most sustainable building after
completion. The reason that I would like to witness this structure is that it
represents not only the present, but also the future of architecture. The shape
of the structure is inspired by the Calla Lily; I admire the design for its
combination of the beauty of nature with a highly technological and modern
approach. I am amazed by the fact that the structure is completely self
sufficient through collecting rainwater, solar and wind energy to fulfill all
of its water and power needs. The sustainability of this build is what I find
most inspiring, and I believe it is a crucial aspect that should be considered more
often in architecture as every decision would affect our environment and future
generations. I think this will be an important step towards a new sustainable
and efficient style of architecture.
